This is a closer picture of Jin Mao tower, with Vernon trying to fit in with its amazing level of coolness.  Those horizontal and vertical lines on the surface of the building are actually rods that stick out from the glass.  When you get up close the effect changes from being lots of sharp angles to being this almost spiderweb like shell over the building.

 

This is a shot of the lower companion building to Jin Mao.  It looks like something out of a movie (maybe "Brazil").
