After Tortosa we drove on to the tiny town of Huermeda. On the way we stopped at the Ermita de Santa Barbara. It is up on top of a hill overlooking valleys in every direction, and it had this cool sundial.
Here's a look at it as you walk up the hill.
And one of the views from up there. In this part of Spain, and it seemed like everywhere we went outside of a city, the land was planted with crops. Sometimes in big fields, and sometimes in small terraced sections. Lots of grapes and olives.
When we were there it was closed, but you could peer through the front door and see the well kept interior.
The plaque next to the compass rose says the latitude is 41 grados (degrees) and the longitude is 0 (and it was placed in 2004). Yes, it says "Greenwich" on it.
Another view from on top, looking back at the highway we drove to get there.
Alison and Vernon enjoying the trip.
Then it was back into the car. This is Eero sacked out, wearing his U.S. Embassy Tbilisi Georgia shirt.
We saw these giant bull statues in a few places during our drive. They are two-dimensional metal cut-outs. Kinda creepy.
Some pretty big skies in this part of Spain, even when there are power lines.
